Mallory Smith
Rehearsal Manager, Newcastle
Mallory is the other half of the ‘Sue ‘n’ Mal’ team who manage rehearsals – take the register, make sure everyone is ok and have got their music and know where they need to be and when for Inspiration rehearsals, performances and outside events.
She invented ‘Singer Sudoko’ when they have to fit 300+ singers into workable seating arrangements by voice, friendship and special needs requirements – giving many happy hours of fun!
Mallory has been involved with theatre and music all of her life – and her first job was in the costume department of a big international touring ballet company. Her first visit to Paris was with Nureyev and his production of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ – so spending time in that beautiful city with her ‘dancing family’ has now been topped by a fabulous few days with her ‘singing family’ in Inspiration!
She loved working in theatre and being a part of a creative and fun world but having spent years touring (think seven day working weeks, lots of coach, train and plane journeys and no sleep!) realised that she needed a change of ‘day job’.
So she became a careers advisor for adults, and now has her own business offering Life Coaching and Reiki. If you want to know more about what that involves check out www.mallorysmith.co.uk.
Moving back up to Newcastle from London meant that she had time to get involved in amateur theatre and music, and she was a dedicated member of the Tyne Theatre and Opera House for many years. She originally joined to work backstage but on her first visit had a score put in her hand, so ended up as a singer by accident!
However it was the best accident ever, as she loves singing and being part of Inspiration and working with Gary is a completely joyous and uplifting experience.
