Inspiration in the community
The main backbone of Inspiration’s concerts are those performed at Sage Gateshead with Royal Northern Sinfonia, at Leeds Town Hall with The Orchestra of Opera North and at O2 Guildhall Southampton with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. These happen three times a year at the end of each term. But as well as these we also sing a lot for the community. We work with school choirs and sing for local charities. We sing at award ceremonies and switch on Christmas lights. We sing at weddings, in hospitals and, well, wherever we can.
Each term we regularly raise money for charity through activities such as delicious bake sales (and the subsequent ‘sing and slim’ group), raffles, quizzes and charity walks and runs to name just a few. Charities that have benefited include BBC Children In Needs, Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal, Butterwick Hospice and Help For Heroes.
Both Inspiration and Echo sing regularly at the Bexley Wing at St James’ Hospital in Leeds and one of our fundraising highlights has been raising £2500 towards the purchase of a grand piano so the cancer patients can enjoy music and singing on a more regular basis.
Wherever we sing, we love the feeling of sharing our passion for singing.
